Yoga for Athletes

Again this year I’ve been invited to roll out my yoga mat with Milwaukee Brewers’ minor league baseball team, The Huntsville Stars!

Game ON!

In the world of baseball, each field position needs different athletic ability…

Shortstops? Agility & fast reflexes
Batters? EVERY muscle needs to be at PEAK performance.
Pitchers? Hip & spine mobility plus shoulders like Superman!
First, second & third basemen? You’ll often see them in splits!
Catchers? Balance, strong legs, hip flexor & inner thigh flexibility.

The OM Run

How yoga helps…

Yoga builds spinal flexibility and decreases stress.
Yoga loosens the hamstrings and powers up the quads.
Yoga increases mental focus. (baseball’s a head game!)
Yoga improves standing balance and increases torque.
Yoga helps reduce injuries and improves recovery times.
Yoga expands lung power and improves overall coordination.
Yoga increases hip rotation ability and strengthens core muscles.
Yoga opens the front of the spine (for diving catches & head-first slides)
